(Running Time 2:00:00) NOTE: Audio level is low; increase speaker volume for this video. | Poisoning in Florida, Opportunities for PreventionThis training provides information on the epidemiology of poisoning in Florida and identifies populations vulnerable to poison exposure and serious complications or death. Also identified in the training are strategies for increasing public knowledge of poison hazards and prevention measures. Included is a discussion regarding the poison control center's role in responding to poison emergencies and providing educational materials and assistance to healthcare providers and outreach staff.
(Running Time: 57:29) Understanding Adolescent Brain DevelopmentThis training provides an understanding of the changes taking place in the brain during childhood and adolescence and how these changes are influenced by interactions between the individual and the world around him. Other topics covered in this training are: how alcohol and other drugs influence quality of life through direct effects on brain development and through secondary effects like poor decisions and increased risk of exposure to violence and disease states, the pervasiveness of substance misuse and its role in child maltreatment, and the identification of signs and symptoms of substance use.
(Running Time: 1:59:18) Self Injury: Testimony, Insight, and Critical IssuesThis training offers insight into the following: incidence and factors in self injury, new breed of self injurer, relationship between self injury and suicide, major theories of self injury, and the school's role in intervention and developing policies and procedures. The training also includes testimonies from two college students who have successfully coped with self injury.
