This page provides resources and information for prospective and current adoptive parents.  Here you will find information on becoming an adoptive parent of a child from the child welfare system.  You can view Florida laws pertaining to adoption, information on the benefits of adoption, and resources for post-adoption support.

General information on the legal process of adoption in Florida. Information is not specific to children within the child welfare system.

Helping Your Foster Child Transition to Your Adoptive Child (Mar'05)
From Child Welfare Information Gateway, this "Factsheet for Families" provides information for families who are adopting their foster child.

OCOC works in conjunction with DCF and provides adoption related services throughout Florida
Openness in Adoption (Feb'03)
This "Factsheet for Families" offers guidance in determining the extent to which communication with birth families should continue post-adoption.
Transracial and Transcultural Adoption (1994)
From Child Welfare Information Gateway, this factsheet provides information to families who are considering adopting a child of a different race and/or culture.

Florida Adoptive Parent Support Groups (Oct'09)
Listing of available support groups by district and circuit.
Florida's Adoption Reunion Registry (AdoptFlorida.com)
If two or more people affected by an adoption in Florida list themselves on the registry, then FARR gets them in touch with both parties. Fee may be waived.
