Web Event:
  QPI Web Event: 'An Overview of the Medical and Psychosocial Aspects of Diabetes in Youth.' January 29, 1 - 3 pm (Eastern). Presented by Kim Rossi, RN, BSN, CDE, Diabetes Program Coordinator of Nemours Children’s Clinics Orlando and Jessica Pierce, PhD, Pediatric Psychologist, Division of Behavioral Health. Join us for a live web event to help foster parents and caregivers learn about the types of diabetes and medication used to manage diabetes. Attendees will also gain an understanding of why diabetes management is difficult in adolescence and understand the role of problem solving and effective communication in empowering youth. ®    Regional Training: 2015 Child Welfare Regional Training Institutes. Various dates/locations, Jan - March, 2015.  The purpose of the trainings are to enhance collaboration between certified domestic violence centers and child welfare agencies, to build the capacity of child welfare and partnering agencies to assess for domestic violence, to partner with domestic violence survivors to achieve child safety, and to appropriately safety plan with families experiencing domestic violence that are involved in the child welfare system.

®    Training: Walking the Walk: Creative Tools for Transforming Compassion Fatigue & Vicarious Trauma. March 10, Ocala, Fl.   Compassion fatigue is characterized by deep emotional and physical exhaustion, and by a shift in helping professional’s sense of hope and optimism about the future and the value of their work. The Department of Children and Families invites you to attend a highly interactive half-day workshop, incorporating a combination of solo, small group, and whole group activities.  Featuring Françoise Mathieu, M.Ed., CCC.

®    2015 Foster Parent Cost of Living Allowance Increase (12/31/14)

The purpose of this memo is to provide guidance to the regions and Community-Based Care lead agencies
to implement the foster parent Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) increase schedule to go into effect
January 1, 2015.
